Creation of infrastructures and development of public space related to construction of the Greater Besançon (population 180,000) tramway.
The project comprises implementation of a 14.5-km east-west line crossing the historic town centre and serving the Viotte station.
The project calls for creating 31 stations, five park-and-ride facilities and a maintenance centre.
Two main civil-engineering works are to be built: the Battant Bridge, a metal structure to replace the old bridge, and the walkway above the Doubs along the Quai Veil Picard. Other works accompanying the arrival of the tramway line include the Kiosque de Chamars (snack-food services and public restrooms) and the specific outfitting of the Quai Veil Picard.
