Guide to Modern and Contemporary Architecture – Franche-Comté, Territoire de Belfort
“Some twenty years after the first edition, now out of print, of the contemporary architecture routes in Franche-Comté, the Maison de l’Architecture de Franche-Comté hit the road again in search of remarkable buildings to showcase.
In 2013, 2015 and 2017, this research led to the publication of guides dedicated to the départements of Doubs, Jura and Haute-Saône. In 2023, the Territoire de Belfort brings this exploration to a close.
Across these four volumes, the members of the Maison de l’Architecture de Franche-Comté have shown the same interest in refurbishments, restructurings and extensions as in new buildings, and have explored both modest projects and more prestigious works. Likewise, while the emphasis has generally been placed on recent architectural production, these guides have always forged a link with the past by presenting older projects—unknown, forgotten or hidden.
The ambition of the Maison de l’Architecture de Franche-Comté is to continue updating this guide on a regular basis, in order to offer an ever-renewed panorama of architectural production in Franche-Comté. To help fulfil this ambition, it welcomes any information or projects that readers of this publication may wish to bring to its attention.
The Maison de l’Architecture de Franche-Comté extends its warm thanks to all the individuals and institutions who made this guide possible, and wishes its readers many rewarding discoveries…!”
