Proceedings of the international symposium (ENSA Paris–Val de Seine, Paris, October 2019) — edited by Lila Bonneau and Donato Severo — Anteferma Edizioni (Poiesis series), Conegliano, February 2023
Contribution — Marc Warnery (Part 1 “Transpositions”, pp. 90–103):
“Reusing, preserving and integrating contemporary architecture within historic contexts: strategies for repurposing major hospital estates.”
The book traces the evolution of the contemporary hospital at a time of unprecedented functional and architectural change-driving the growing disposal of hospital sites, their conversion, or in some cases their demolition. It examines the scale of repurposing major 20th-century hospital estates, at the crossroads of urban issues (renewal, densification) and environmental priorities, bringing together contributions from architects and experts in France and internationally (including the United States, Canada, Belgium, Spain and Italy).
