Smartsea, the eco-district’s flagship project
Smartsea is an office building delivered in April 2023 within the Smartseille eco-district in Marseille, designed with EGR Atelier d’Architecture. Positioned on the city’s maritime frontage, on former industrial brownfield land, it marks a new stage in the northern development of the city and inaugurates the first chapter of the Euroméditerranée EcoCité.
Composed of three volumes set on a two-level plinth, the building is structured by a clear concrete frame expressed on the façade. The interplay of light and shadow reinforces its Mediterranean character, while its corner position creates a protected landscaped heart-of-block and frames long views towards the territory and surrounding infrastructures.
